A Beginner’s Guide to Meditation
April 27th 2011 -
If you are interested in beginning meditation but do not know how, here is a short guide to get you started:
1. The first thing you need to know is there is no “right” way to mediate. Each session will be different, but the important factor you want to focus on is relaxing your mind.
2. There are many different methods for mediation. It may help to try a few different methods before you find one you like best. For a beginner, breathing meditation usually works best. Breathing meditation works by focusing on your breaths and trying to control them without forcing any breaths. Another good beginner mediation method is walking mediation. This method of mediation is different in that your eyes remain open while you stroll through a park or some other scenic route. The object is to take everything in while relaxing your mind.
3. You should determine a specific time of the day for meditation. Whenever you want to establish any habit, you need to create a routine. By setting aside a certain amount of time each day specifically for meditation, you will be able to more easily acclimate to a mediation routine.
Like any new challenge, the hard part is taking the first step. Once you make a few steps, mediation will become easier over time. As you grow and become more educated in mediation, you can experiment and find new styles of mediation.
